Smart Gin manufacturer bags best taxpayer award for Ilala tax Region

Taxation still remains the foun­dation of the nation’s development. Revenue generated from various activities are used to enhance the well-being of the country by creat­ing and improving social services and infrastructure.

These taxes are paid through var­ious activities, including taxes on employment, company revenues, organisations, entrepreneurs, and traders, all collectively known as tax­payers.

Taxpayers are a crucial group for the economic growth and devel­opment because taxes enable the government to implement various developmental initiatives.

Recognising the importance of taxpayers, the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) declared November a designated month to express grati­tude to the outstanding taxpayers for their contributions to the national kitty.

The taxman has in the recent times awarded the tax-compliant taxpayers, for their co-operation and contributions to the national wellbe­ing and development.

Among the activities TRA organ­ised as part of the celebrations were “TRA Fun Run and Walk” for taxpay­ers, along followed by awards pre­sented to outstanding taxpayers in different categories.

Among the winners in the awards was Euromax Limited, which received the Best Taxpayer Award in the Ilala Tax Region in the category of large taxpayers.

Euromax Limited, a producer and distributor of Smart Gin, has been recognised for its significant contri­bution and compliance to tax pay­ments. The award reaffirms their commitment to transparency and adherence to tax laws.

The company sets a commenda­ble example in the manufacturing sector, instilling confidence in stake­holders by demonstrating its read­iness to contribute to community development through fair tax pay­ments.

Following the award, The Citizen had the opportunity to interview the Company’s CEO, Peter Michael Kinabo, who explained the secrets behind this recognition.

Congratulations for winning the coveted best taxpayer award. What does this award mean to you?

First, we thank everyone who vot­ed for us, assuring them that we value their trust and we will continue pro­viding excellent products.

We appreciate the recognition from the Tanzania Revenue Author­ity (TRA) for adhering to tax pro­cedures, boosting our motivation to comply with national tax laws.

This award enhances our credibil­ity from partners, the government, and customers, cementing our com­mitment to follow tax regulations.

It also signifies our dedication to professionalism, quality manage­ment, and fostering good relation­ships with other institutions. We take pride in contributing to the gov­ernment’s developmental plans and delivering excellent products.

What is the role of the CEO in the overall achievements?

At Euromax Limited, under my leadership, has played a key role in positioning itself as a leader in the category of major taxpayers in the Ilala Tax Region.

By actively involving employees in strategic plans from operational tasks to high-level decision-making, I have fostered a positive employ­er-employee relationship, contribut­ing to the overall company’s success.

We emphasise responsibility and collaboration. I have been the driv­ing force in motivating and setting a stellar example for the employees, leading to significant operational successes, including the receipt of this award.

The commitment to provide prod­ucts that meet the needs and expec­tations of Tanzanians and contribute to the country’s economic growth is a testament to my vision for the com­pany.

This award serves as both an acknowledgment of past success and a motivator for future endeavours. It will boost morale and commitment to delivering high-quality products while fulfilling tax obligations.

Considered a debt to our custom­ers, the award inspires Euromax Limited to continually enhance their products to meet daily needs.

It also instils motivation to adhere to tax laws, as they believe tax pay­ment is fundamental for genuine progress, enabling the government to provide services and implement development strategies.

Participating in these awards has provided valuable experiences, including networking with other businesses and institutions nation­wide.

What are your strategies for con­tinued excellence in these awards next year?

The main strategy for future suc­cess involves improving internal sys­tems to ensure excellence in various tax-related matters. Additionally, Euromax plans to enhance product delivery, aiming to surpass this year’s achievements and bring even more positive developments for customers and partners in the coming year.
