  • The formation of the team comes at a time when the ruling party CCM has endorsed Dr Hussein Mwinyi as the presidential candidate for the 2025 General Election.

Unguja. The political landscape in Zanzibar is shaping into one of anticipation as the island nation gears up for the October 2025 General Election.

The Opposition ACT-Wazalendo  national Chairman and First Vice President of Zanzibar, Othman Masoud Othman, officially launched the party’s electoral team, marking a pivotal step in preparations for the 2025 General Election.

The event, held at the party’s offices in Vuga, signalled the beginning of a strategic campaign aimed at securing ACT Wazalendo’s success in the upcoming elections.

The formation of the team comes at a time when the ruling party CCM has endorsed Dr Hussein Mwinyi as the presidential candidate for the 2025 General Election.

Speaking at the launch, Othman emphasised the importance of the moment, noting that it comes at a crucial time when the people of Zanzibar are eager to complete their journey of transformation.

“The people of Zanzibar are ready for change, and they are prepared to place their trust in ACT-Wazalendo to lead the country toward progress,” he said.

According to him, ‘The Winning Team’ will play a central role in guiding the party to victory in the highly anticipated elections later this year.

Othman appointed Mr. Ismail Jussa as the Chairman of the team, with Mr Mansoor Yussuf Himid as his Deputy Chairman. The team also includes seasoned professionals, expected to bring their wealth of experience and leadership to the campaign.

The appointed members are  Omar Ali Shehe, Salim Bimani, Omar Said Shaaban, Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, Hafidh Abdulrahman Bakari, Mohammed Nur Mohammed, Muhene Said Rashid, Khamis Salim Ali, Janet Fusi, Fatma Abdulhabib Fereji, Nasra Said Nassor, Pavu Juma Abdallah, and Rashid Ali Abdallah.

In his address, Mr Ismail Jussa, the newly appointed Chairman of ‘the Winning Team’, expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for the confidence placed in him and his colleagues.

“We are honoured to be part of this historic journey toward change,” he said. “This team will work tirelessly to restore the hopes of the people of Zanzibar and establish a government that truly represents their will.”

Earlier this month, Othman announced his intention of running for the presidency of Zanzibar, contingent upon receiving the party’s endorsement. His candidacy, together with the formation of ‘the Winning Team’, signals ACT-Wazalendo’s readiness for the political challenges ahead and its commitment to usher Zanzibar into a new era of governance.
