60-day campaign to spark productive dialogue on Zanzibar Revolution
Dar es Salaam. Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) and Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) have launched a 60-day campaign to spark productive discussions on the Zanzibar Revolution and its impact on Tanzania as a whole.
The campaign, which will be held on social media, in print, and on electronic media, will involve people who participated in the revolution, government leaders, and public and private organizations.
Speaking at the launch of the campaign in Dar es Salaam on November 10, 2023, MCL Executive Editor Victor Mushi said the goal of the campaign is to help open up opportunities and scope for Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole.
"When evaluating the 60 years of the Zanzibar Revolution, there should be a vision of what has been learned during that period to be able to build the next 60 years," Mushi said. "The important thing is to create a roadmap for the future."
Mushi added that MCL and ZBC will be engaging the public to participate in the campaign through their media platforms.
"I urge the public to be with us because on November 13, this year (Monday), both MCL and ZBC media platforms will have something big as we move towards the 60 day campaign," Mushi said.
MCL Managing Director Bakari Machumu said one of the key lessons from the 60 years of the Zanzibar Revolution is the importance of technology change.
"We must integrate technology change into all sectors, including the media, so as not to be left behind," Machumu said.
ZBC Director General Ramadhani Bukini said the campaign is an opportunity to unite Zanzibaris and ensure that the country continues to change and grow with the times.
"We plan to go national by expanding from region to region," Bukini said.
The 60-day campaign is a significant initiative to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Zanzibar Revolution.
It is an opportunity to learn about the revolution, its impact on the country, and the people who made it happen. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the progress that has been made since the revolution and to look ahead to the future.
