Chelsea to promote Zanzibar tourism

Zanzibar tourism is geared for a major boost after the Zanzibar government partnered with English football club Chelsea on a promotional agreement.

Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi hosted Chelsea FC Head of Global Sales, Barnes Hampel, and his delegation at the State House in Zanzibar on February 1, 2024.

The meeting with Chelsea focused on promoting Zanzibar's tourism industry and fostering football development in the archipelago, which includes the establishment of football academies within the Isles.

Mr Hampel and his team are expected to continue their Tanzania visit by traveling to the mainland tomorrow.

Their schedule includes a meeting with the Minister of Culture, Arts, and Sports, Mr Damas Ndumbaro, to discuss sports development initiatives.

They then aim to secure an audience with President Samia Suluhu Hassan, as confirmed by Chelsea FC coordinator in Tanzania, Mr. Mohamed Reza Saboor.
