Gruesome assault leaves Zanzibar man with no ears

Unguja. Hussein Abdallah, 30, a resident of Rahaleo in Mjini Magharibi Region, popularly known as Mauzinde, has been left in great pain after he was brutally attacked by unknown assailants.

According to reports, the attack occurred around 9:00 pm on Sunday,June 2, in the Kibele area of South Unguja's Central District.

Abdallah was reportedly tortured and had both his ears severed before he was abandoned in the Kibele forest reserve.

Graphic images circulating on social media show Abdallah bloodied and helpless in a hospital bed.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear. As of now, Abdallah's assailants haven't been apprehended.

Following the assault, Abdallah was first taken to the Mwera Pongwe District Hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Mnazimmoja Hospital for further treatment.

Daniel Shila, the Police Commander for the South Unguja Region, confirmed the incident to The Citizen on June 3.

However, citing his current involvement in a leadership convoy, Commander Shila was unable to provide further details at the time. He promised to offer more information later.
