SMZ to open up Pemba with construction of modern airport, says Mbeto

Pemba.The Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has allocated more than 170 million euros for the construction of a modern airport on Pemba Island.
This was announced by Khamis Mbeto Khamis, Secretary of the Special Committee of the NEC, Ideology, Publicity and Training Department of the CCM Zanzibar, while speaking to CCM members from the five constituencies of Wete District at the Sheikh Idrisa Abdul Wakil Kizimbani Hall in the North Pemba Region.
He said that the purpose of upgrading the airport is to open up investment opportunities on the island so that people from different countries can easily travel directly to the island to do business, tourism, and investment in various sectors.
In his explanation, Mbeto said that the airport which is set to be constructed by local contractors Mecco, will have all the criteria for an international airport with the capacity to serve all large aircraft from different countries around the world.
The contract for the construction of the airport was signed early in 2023 and the funds have already been secured to construct a new terminal building and upgrading of the runway

There is a saying that goes, "Good is paid with good." Let us take it to heart because I believe that you are gentlemen not only in words but also in deeds. I know you are God-fearing, make sure you participate and encourage our youth who have the qualifications and criteria to enter the electoral roll to register in large numbers," Mbeto stressed.
He said that through the efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and President Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, they have succeeded in securing climate change funds of which part has been directed to Pemba due to climate change challenges.
In addition, he explained that when Zanzibar united with Tanganyika in 1964, Zanzibar was receiving 4.5% of budget funds from the Union, so due to the efforts of President Hassan and the President of Zanzibar, but that has now reached 9 percent.
Through the meeting, he told the leaders and members that they have work to do to ensure that all young people who have reached the age of 18 register in the electoral roll to get the correct number of members who are eligible to vote.
He explained that the CCM victory will come from the number of votes that come from the preparations for the exercise of improving the permanent electoral roll, which is the capital of CCM towards 2025.
