Moshi. Airtel Tanzania yesterday opened a new shop in Moshi in a deliberate effort to bring it services closer to the people as competition for subscribers gets intense.

Having registered 574,752 new subscriber identification module (Sim) cards between March and June this year, Airtel maintained its second slot, with a market share of 30 per cent – being one per cent ahead of the third placed one.

It had a total of 10,278,957 sim cards as of June, up from 9,704,205 as at the end of March 2015, according to Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority figures.

The new shop is expected to provide a wide range of products such as modems, mobile phone handsets, Airtel Money services as well as pre and postpaid services including bills payment, Airtel data settings and airtime purchases.
