Altezza, Altura Expedition recognized as Kilimanjaro Region’s top taxpayers

Moshi. Altezza and Altura Expedition-tourism companies in the Kilimanjaro Region, have been recognized with prestigious awards for their outstanding contributions as top taxpayers in the region.
The awards were presented on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Kilimanjaro Region to celebrate the best-performing taxpayers for the 2023/24 fiscal year.
TRA manager for the Kilimanjaro Region, Mr James Jilala, reported that the authority collected Sh194 billion from July 2024 to January 2025, surpassing the target of Sh168 billion for the period.
He said the total revenue collected exceeded the target by 16 percent.
"By collecting Sh194 billion during that period, the authority has achieved 116 percent of its goal," Jilala said, crediting the achievement to the effective management of revenue collection processes.
He added that TRA will continue implementing strategies to strengthen revenue collection efforts and address any challenges promptly to ensure goals are met.
"We commend stakeholders, especially Altezza and Altura Expedition, for their timely tax payments," said Mr Jilala.
During the award ceremony, Altezza Tourism Company Director, Mr Dickson Muganda, expressed immense pride in receiving the awards.
He said the recognition has earned them significant respect nationwide, and he pledged to continue providing excellent tourism services while ensuring timely tax payments.
"We are delighted to have won two awards simultaneously. Being recognized as the largest taxpayer in Kilimanjaro Region is a tremendous achievement, and we are incredibly proud of it. It is truly an honor, especially given the many esteemed businesspeople in Kilimanjaro," said Mr Muganda, noting that the award meant a great deal to the company.
Mr Muganda also highlighted the recognition of Altura Expedition for its exceptional tourism services, making it the first company to receive the tax-paying award in the region.
"This is the first time we have received this award, and it brings us immense joy to have our contribution to tax payment recognized by an authority like TRA. Being named the largest taxpayer in the Kilimanjaro Region is no small feat," remarked Mr Muganda.
He attributed the victory to the growing number of tourists visiting the Kilimanjaro Region, noting the positive impact of President Samia Suluhu Hassan's "The Royal Tour" film, which has attracted more international visitors to Tanzania.
"God has helped us secure this victory, which reflects the rise in tourist numbers. We remain grateful to the government, particularly for the efforts made through ‘The Royal Tour,’ which has garnered a tremendous response and attracted more international visitors to the country," he said.
