Arusha. Oryx Gas Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting clean cooking energy and delivering quality services to citizens.
The company reiterated its assurance during its annual meeting, which gathered agents from all regions to outline its strategic direction for 2025.
The meeting, held in Arusha last weekend, provided a vital opportunity to review achievements, assess progress, and align objectives for the year ahead.
Speaking at the event, Oryx Gas Tanzania’s Marketing and Sales Manager, Mr Shaban Fundi, emphasised the critical role of the company’s nationwide network of agents, who operate in urban, district, and rural areas.
He explained that these agents are essential in ensuring the availability of clean cooking energy, even in remote locations.
“Oryx Gas is proud of its agents, strategically positioned across the country, including Zanzibar,” Mr Fundi said.
“They are central to our mission of providing safe, clean cooking energy, enabling us to reach every corner of Tanzania,” he added.
Mr Fundi stressed that the meeting was a time for reflection and setting the vision for 2025.
He encouraged the public to continue embracing clean cooking energy, which Oryx Gas is dedicated to making widely accessible and affordable.
“We are confident our agents are equipped to meet the growing demand for clean energy. This meeting sets our direction for the year ahead, and we remain committed to providing exceptional service to Tanzanians,” he added.
In line with its commitment to public education, Mr Fundi noted that Oryx Gas has been actively engaging with communities to raise awareness of the benefits of switching to clean cooking methods.
These efforts help safeguard public health and contribute to environmental conservation.
Oryx Gas Zanzibar Manager, Ms Shuea Omar Khamisi, highlighted the significant impact of the company’s initiatives on the island.
She said the annual meeting was a key event for evaluating progress and refining strategies for the year ahead.
“This gathering allows us to assess last year’s successes, share insights, and set ambitious targets for 2025,” Ms Khamisi explained.
“Our regional agents are crucial in representing us in the market, connecting with customers, and promoting clean energy solutions,” he added.
Ms Khamisi took particular pride in the substantial increase in clean energy use in Zanzibar.
She noted that in 2020, clean energy accounted for just 7.7 percent of energy consumption on the island, but by 2024, this figure had risen to 26.5 percent.
“The island’s clean energy consumption grew from 3,600 tonnes in 2020 to 12,400 tonnes in 2024, reflecting a significant shift toward sustainable energy,” she said.
“This growth shows that people in Zanzibar are increasingly adopting clean energy alternatives,” added Ms Khamisi.
Furthermore, she urged the people of Zanzibar to move away from traditional cooking fuels like firewood and charcoal, which not only pose health risks but also contribute to environmental degradation.
“I strongly encourage the people of Zanzibar to stop relying on firewood and charcoal. These fuels harm our health and the environment,” warned Ms Khamisi.
