Armed with four exceptional features, the firm believes the new phone has what it takes to penetrate in the local market as Tanzania becomes an increasingly important destination for Tecno’s products.

Dar es Salaam. Tecno Mobile Limited has officially unveiled its ‘Phantom 5’ in the Tanzanian market as it seeks to get an increased share of smart phone market in East Africa’s second largest economy.

Armed with four exceptional features, the firm believes the new phone has what it takes to penetrate in the local market as Tanzania becomes an increasingly important destination for Tecno’s products.

“In Africa, Nigeria is the largest market. Ghana comes second, but in East Africa, Tanzania is now overtaking Kenya….we believe we are already on top of our competitors with regard to the number of start phones sold here in Tanzania and we are getting stronger each passing day,” the Tecno Mobile Retail Shops and Sales Manager in Tanzania, Mr Fredy Kadilana, said in Dar es Salaam on Thursday.

The four features that make it exceptional, according to Mr Kadilana, include a bigger screen size that moves from a 5.2-inch display to a 5.5-inch display. It offers a 1080 by 1920 pixels resolution.

Its 13 megapixels back camera, complete with a dual-LED Flash, makes it fit even for pictures that can be published in newspapers. It also has an eight megapixels front facing camera.

Without revealing the retail price, on condition that it will have to be determined by retailers after considering such factors as demand and location of the retail shop, Mr Kadilana said the phone offered a 32-gigabyte of inbuilt memory and a 3000mAH battery that assures the client more talk time.

Tecno Phantom 5 is supported by a Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE), which offers super fast download and video streaming. “Besides, it also has a second generation fingerprint identification sensor,” Mr Kadilana said at an event that was also attended by super dealers of the Tecno products in the commercial city.
