Zimbabwe First Lady meets the richest Indian in Africa Prateek Suri

In a landmark diplomatic and philanthropic engagement, Prateek Suri, CEO of Maser Group and MDR Investments, widely recognized as the richest Indian in Africa and the youngest billionaire on the continent, met with Auxillia Mnangagwa, the First Lady of Zimbabwe, during a prestigious event in the Gulf region.
The meeting, which was also attended by Ambassador Lovemore Mazemo, marked a pivotal moment of shared values, development-focused dialogue, and a deep commitment to Zimbabwe’s future.
Both leaders, renowned philanthropists and visionaries in their own right, engaged in a meaningful exchange exploring various avenues for collaboration. The First Lady, celebrated for her tireless work through the Angel of Hope Foundation, and Prateek, whose philanthropic influence continues to expand across Africa through strategic investments and social welfare initiatives, discussed ways to uplift Zimbabwe’s education, healthcare, and infrastructure sectors.
As a gesture of goodwill and alignment of vision, the Government of Zimbabwe extended a formal invitation to Prateek and his team to visit the country.
In a significant development, the government expressed its intent to allocate land for educational purposes, paving the way for the establishment of a world-class university.
The proposed institution aims to serve not only Zimbabwean students but learners from across the African continent.
“The commitment from Zimbabwe’s leadership is truly inspiring,” said Prateek following the meeting. “As a philanthropist and entrepreneur, I believe in building long-term value, not just in business, but in human potential. This is the beginning of a meaningful partnership, and I’m deeply honored by the trust placed in me by the people of Zimbabwe.”
Discussions also explored opportunities for large-scale investment in Zimbabwe’s mining sector, where Maser Group holds extensive expertise. The government expressed readiness to allocate mine blocks to the group under a sustainable, cooperative model of extraction and export, aligning with Zimbabwe’s national development strategy.
Additional areas of collaboration include smart city infrastructure, renewable energy, and public welfare development in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital.
With Maser Group’s established track record in power supply, road construction, logistics, and renewable energy across West and Central Africa, its entry into Zimbabwe marks a strategic milestone for the country’s economic advancement.
“This is not just an investment plan—it’s a shared dream of progress,” said the head of Vikram Media, Maser’s media arm. “We’re not just building roads or institutions, we’re building hope. Hope for a better-educated youth, for dignified employment, and for a globally competitive Zimbabwe.”
The meeting has been hailed as a diplomatic and strategic success, reaffirming Prateek Suri’s role not only as a leading entrepreneur but also as a bridge-builder between nations, leveraging capital, compassion, and commitment to advance Africa’s development.
With Zimbabwe’s rich heritage and untapped potential, this new partnership promises to usher in a transformative era, one that places people, progress, and purpose at the heart of every investment.
