NMB eyes over 30,000 agents, six new branches by year’s end

Dar es Salaam. NMB Bank will open six new branches and raise the number of its agents to over 30,000 by the end of this year in a deliberate move to expand its reach, its head of business banking, Mr Alex Mgeni, said at the weekend.

Speaking at the NMB Business Executive Network (BEN) dinner forum at the weekend in Dar es Salaam, Mr Mgeni said bank will also come up with new innovative financial products, new digital solutions and boosting its investments in new technologies.

In attendance at the BEN were top-end business customers from Dar es Salaam and Coast regions.

NMB’s services, said Mr Mgeni, are available across a network of 230 branches, 22,000 agents and hundreds of ATMs among others.

“The purpose of all this is to make banking more convenient and cut branch visits with highly innovative solutions like NMB Mkononi and Mshiko Fasta. We are also going to increase ATMs and improve other digital services,” he explained, revealing that two of its planned six new branches will be opened at Chanika and Kariakoo in Dar es Salaam.

Gracing the event, the Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo described the BEN gatherings as healthy constructive engagements.

Dar es Salaam Mayor Omar Kumbilamoto said he was not only impressed by NMB’s lending initiatives but also the credit services it offers, whose improvement Mr Mgeni said have included increasing the single borrower limit to Sh350 billion from the 2022 level of Sh250 billion.
