Dar es Salaam. Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) will today host Stand United in the quarterfinal of the CRDB Federation Cup at the KMC Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 4pm, with both teams' coaches expressing confidence in securing a win.
Yanga head coach Miloud Hamdi said his team is taking the match seriously, with the main target being qualification for the semifinal stage.
The winner between Yanga and Stand United will face the winner of the clash against JKT Tanzania who won 3-1 against Pamba Jiji FC yesterday,
“We are aiming for victory against Stand United, who are also targeting a spot in the semifinals. It will be a tough match, and we need to show our quality on the pitch,” said Hamdi.
He added that despite the absence of key players Pacome Zouzoua and Khalid Aucho, who are still nursing injuries, the rest of the squad is in good shape and ready to deliver.
“Our players are in top form and motivated. We’ve prepared well and are ready for the challenge ahead,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Simba have already secured a place in the semifinal after defeating Mbeya City 3-1 in their quarterfinal clash held last Sunday at the same venue.
Simba are now waiting to face the winner between Singida Black Stars and Kagera Sugar, who played their quarterfinal match yesterday.
This year’s CRDB Federation Cup has proven to be highly competitive, with clubs from different divisions battling for the prestigious domestic trophy and a spot in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
With Yanga aiming to defend their title and Stand United hoping to cause an upset, today’s match promises to be an entertaining contest for football fans in the country.
