Dar es Salaam. The Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court has dropped the case against veteran politician Wilbrod Slaa, 76, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) informed the court that there was no intention to proceed with the charges against him.

Dr Slaa had been facing charges of spreading false information on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter. The alleged offence took place on January 9, 2025 in Dar es Salaam.

The ruling was delivered today, Thursday, 27 February 2025, by Senior Resident Magistrate Franco Kiswaga, following the prosecution’s request.

The charge was dismissed under Section 91(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act (CPA), Chapter 20, as amended in 2022.

Before the charge was dropped, Senior State Attorneys Job Mrema and Clemence Kato informed the court that the DPP had no intention to continue with the case and therefore requested its dismissal.
