Tanzanian music icon Diamond Platnumz has secured his position as one of Africa’s top earners on YouTube, ranking third on the 2024 list of highest-earning African musicians on the platform.
According to Africa Facts Zone, Diamond earned an impressive $2.7 million (Sh6.8 billion) over the past year, a testament to his immense popularity and consistent output of engaging content.
The Bongo Flava superstar trails South Africa’s Tyla, who topped the list with $3.1 million, and Egypt’s Mohamed Ramadan, who came second with $2.8 million.
Despite this, Diamond remains a trailblazer for Tanzanian and East African artists.
Diamond’s remarkable earnings stem from his global appeal, captivating music videos, and a dedicated fan base that extends far beyond Tanzania’s borders. He has 9.6 million YouTube subscribers and 2.8 billion total YouTube views.
Notably, Tanzanian stars Rayvanny and Harmonize also made it into the rankings, with Rayvanny placing 19th and earning $580,400, while Harmonize closed the top 20 with $565,900.
Furthermore, Egypt had a significant presence on the list, with Mohamed Ramadan earning $2.8 million to claim the second spot. Tamer Hosny, another Egyptian superstar, ranked fourth with $1.9 million, while Ahmed Saad followed at seventh, earning $1.2 million. Sherine rounded off Egypt’s strong representation by securing the 10th position with $1 million.
From Nigeria, Burna Boy led the pack, ranking sixth with $1.5 million. Kizz Daniel joined him on the list, earning $1.2 million and placing eighth.
North African artists also had a strong showing, with Algeria’s Soolking placing fifth with $1.7 million and Tunisia’s Balti coming in ninth with $1.1 million.
