Bongo Flava heartthrob Marioo has become the toast of Tanzania’s music scene in 2022 after he dominated the top streamed Tanzania song chart with three songs in the top five Spotify Wrapped 2022.
Wrapped charts are the yearly look back at what songs, artistes, albums and playlist on which fans have listened throughout the year on the streaming service.
This is the first time Marioo finished the year on top of charts that were in 2021 dominated by Diamond Platnumz followed by, Darasa, Zuchu, Mbosso and Alikiba respectively.
‘Naogopa’ a track featuring Harmonize holds the peak as the most streamed song this year, followed with ‘Mi Amor’ featuring Jovial, the second title and ‘Dear Ex’ close the top five charts.
Nakupenda hit maker, Jay Melody holds the third title while Alikiba takes the fourth title from ‘Utu’.
Remainder of the chart is followed by Diamond Platnumz with his songs, ‘Melody’ which feature Jaywillz, ‘Mtasubiri’, ‘Fine’ and ‘Fresh’ featuring Focalistic, Costa Titch & Pabi Cooper all from his latest album.
However, WCB CEO Diamond Platnumz remained the most streamed Tanzanian artiste and the first time as the Top streamed artiste in Tanzania taking over from Drake who was top in 2021.
Konde Gang CEO Harmonize named as the second most streamed Tanzanian artiste followed by Marioo, Mbosso and Alikiba.
Apart from local artistes, the streaming service shows that Tanzanian fans enjoyed most West African and South African songs because of the ‘African Heat’ playlist becoming the most streamed playlist.
The playlist consists of Western Africa songs with fewer Bongo Flava songs that appeared from the charts.
Speaking of the Album release on the streaming platform, Bongo Flava is still lagging behind despite the number of promotions and official launching.
Diamond is the only Bongo Flava artiste who has managed to stay at the number two from the most streamed Album with his album ‘First of All’ which was released this year.
Apart from Diamond, no other artistes shone in that category, despite the numbers of albums which were released this year that include, Harmonize ‘Made for Us’, Barnaba Classic ‘Love Sounds Different’, Ibraah ‘The King Of New School’, Beka Flavour ‘First Born’, Rich Mavoko ‘Fundi’, Rayvanny ‘Flowers II’ and more.
