Millen Magese to lead judges’ panel at Samia Fashion Festival in Zanzibar
Dar es Salaam. Model Millen Magese has been announced as the Chief Judge for the Samia Fashion Festival, set to take place on November 30, 2024, in Zanzibar.
Speaking to journalists after the announcement, Magese expressed her honor and excitement to lead the event, describing it as a celebration of creativity, modesty and the unique legacy of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“This is a historic moment that celebrates not only fashion but also our heritage. For over two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to the fashion and beauty industry, traveling the world and working with renowned brands. To be part of this initiative back home is a dream come true,” said Magese, who currently resides in the United States.
She said the design of the "Samia Attire" represents more than just clothing. It is a symbol of leadership, respect, and modesty—a legacy that should be preserved for future generations.
“My long-standing dream has been to see the Samia Attire become a national and global symbol of pride, showcasing the beauty, strength, and unity of Tanzania. Let’s create something extraordinary that will leave a lasting mark on the world stage,” she added.
Magese will be joined by an esteemed panel of judges, including actor and comedian Idris Sultan, renowned designer and arts advocate Khadija Mwanamboka, politician and former beauty queen Jokate Mwegelo, fashion designer Martin Kadinda, community leader and former beauty queen Faraja Nyalandu, and community leader and Miss Tanzania winner Nancy Sumari.
The festival’s founder and organizer, Khadija Mwanamboka, said the event will bring together diverse designers and creatives to support children living with HIV/AIDS and cancer.
Actor Idris Sultan shared his excitement about being part of the judging team, emphasizing the importance of empowering women leaders. “President Samia is a remarkable example of women’s leadership, and this event is a reflection of her vision for the cultural and creative sectors,” he said.
Magese concluded by urging Tanzanians to continue supporting President Samia’s efforts to promote culture and enhance the fashion and beauty industries.
The Samia Fashion Festival is not just about showcasing attire; it aims to position Tanzania as a global player in the fashion industry while celebrating the legacy of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. The event promises to leave an indelible mark on the history of Tanzanian fashion and culture.
