PIF invests in Saudia Technic, aiming for MRO mastery

Jeddah. Saudi Arabia's aviation sector has set sights to new heights with a landmark investment by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in Saudia Technic.

This partnership marks a bold step towards establishing a national MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) champion, poised to propel the Kingdom into the aviation industry's elite league.

Saudia Technic, a veteran in the skies with roots stretching back to the 1960s, will shed its former skin as Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries. This strategic metamorphosis, fueled by PIF's backing, envisions a transformed entity – a formidable competitor capturing the lion's share of the burgeoning Saudi MRO market and becoming the preferred pit stop for global airlines seeking regional dominance.

The blueprint for this audacious vision? A sprawling, one-million-square-meter MRO village rising in Jeddah – a gleaming testament to Saudi Arabia's commitment to aviation supremacy. This state-of-the-art complex will boast a cutting-edge jet propulsion center, propelling Saudia Technic to the apex of Middle Eastern MRO prowess. Hangar capacity and component shops will multiply, granting Saudia Technic the muscle to tackle market demands across line, base, engine, and component segments.

But the jewel in the crown is an engine test cell, capable of servicing next-generation wide-body and narrow-body giants. This technological marvel symbolizes Saudi Arabia's unwavering ambition to dominate the MRO landscape through 2030 and beyond.

"PIF is committed to propelling Saudi Arabia into the heart of this dynamic, interconnected global aviation sector," declared Raid Ismail, Co-Head of MENA Direct Investments at PIF. "This investment in Saudia Technic is a giant leap forward, unlocking local expertise, building world-class capabilities, and crafting a sector that sets the benchmark for excellence."

Captain Fahd Cynndy, CEO of Saudia Technic, echoed the sentiment, his voice brimming with excitement. "This strategic partnership is a game-changer. With PIF by our side, we'll rewrite the script of aviation in Saudi Arabia and the region. We'll push boundaries, embrace innovation, and become the MRO of choice for airlines across the globe."

Saudi Arabia's ascent as a global aviation hub is no longer a whisper on the wind, but a thunderous roar echoing across the world.

PIF's strategic investments, like the King Salman International Airport expansion and the launch of The Helicopter Company and AviLease, are laying the groundwork for a robust ecosystem, with Saudia Technic playing a starring role.
