10 graduates shine in Absa leaders’ engagement program
Dar es Salaam. Ten outstanding students hailing from various higher learning institutions have successfully completed the rigorous 18-month Absa Leaders in the Making Graduate Engagement Program.
This program, designed by Absa Tanzania, aims to cultivate a pool of talented individuals within the bank while providing a blend of learning and development activities to groom graduates into highly skilled professionals in a short timeframe.
The graduation ceremony, held in Dar es Salaam yesterday, was graced by the Deputy Minister of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for Labor, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disability Patrobasi Katambi.
In his remarks, Mr Katambi commended Absa Bank Tanzania for its commitment to manpower development, emphasizing the importance of equipping graduates with the necessary skills to excel in today's dynamic workplace.
"This program exemplifies a significant contribution to manpower development in our country, particularly in a rapidly evolving job market that demands continuous skill enhancement," stated Mr Katambi.
He lauded Absa for its investment in nurturing future professionals, acknowledging the value of such initiatives despite the associated costs.
Moreover, Katambi highlighted the program's alignment with ABSA's overarching mission of "Empowering Africa and Tanzania's tomorrow, together one story at a time," citing the bank's new brand promise, "Your Story Matters."
He underscored the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, noting that employers often seek graduates with practical skills and on-the-job training experience.
Absa Tanzania's Managing Director, Obedi Laiser, reiterated the bank's commitment to grooming the next generation of leaders through intensive training and mentorship. "Each graduate represents a unique narrative, and we are honored to play a role in their journey," said Laiser. He emphasized the significance of individual stories, affirming Absa's dedication to valuing the personal and professional narratives of its stakeholders.
"At Absa, we believe that everyone's story matters. Whether it's the stories of our graduates, customers, or the nation as a whole, we are committed to ensuring their success," Laiser remarked. He expressed confidence in the program's sustainability and its potential to shape the future of Absa Tanzania, the banking industry, and the nation as a whole.
As Absa Tanzania celebrates the success of its graduates, the bank remains steadfast in its commitment to ongoing development and empowerment, setting a precedent for excellence in the financial sector.
