2025 RISING WOMAN AWARDS: A Call to Celebrate and Empower

It was in that room that The Citizen Rising Woman Initiative took shape; an idea that has since blossomed into a powerful movement, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of women across our nation.

Today, we stand at the threshold of something extraordinary. As we launch the fifth edition of this initiative, we also mark a momentous occasion, the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This anniversary is more than a number; it’s a symbol of the progress we’ve made and a clarion call to accelerate our efforts towards gender equality.

Over the years, we’ve proudly recognised organizations through 45 awards, celebrating their unwavering commitment to gender equality. Each award embodies a story of resilience, innovation, and empowerment. The Rising Woman Award honours organisations dedicated to creating fairness, while the Woman of the Future Award recognises companies with innovative ideas that actively support and uplift women.

The Awards
This year, we have two distinct categories:

• Rising Woman Award: This category recognises organisations that have embedded gender equality into their very fabric, ensuring substantial female representation in management and decision-making roles.
• Woman of the Future Award: This award celebrates companies with innovative ideas and impactful initiatives—those that have developed HR policies, systems, and structures supporting women’s career progression and leadership.

How to join this celebration
To participate, all you need to do is share your story:

1. Rising Woman Award: Tell us about your management team, their journey, and how your organisation has nurtured women leaders.
2. Woman of the Future Award: Share the innovative policies and systems your organisation has put in place to empower women.

Submission details:

• Submit your entry in PDF format (under 10MB) to [email protected].
• Include your entry name and category in the file name.
• Don’t forget to add a declaration confirming your organisation’s permission to submit, an agreement to protect Mwananchi Communications Limited from any claims.

• Submission Deadline: February 28, 2025 at 1500Hrs.

It culminates into a grand celebration—TheCitizen Rising Woman Gala Dinner on March 7, 2025, at the Mlimani City Conference Center, Dar es Salaam, starting at 5 PM.
