Dar es Salaam. Opposition party ACT Wazalendo is gearing up for the second phase of its comprehensive tour in preparation for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

The tour, which begins on September 11, 2024, is a key part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence and rally support ahead of the elections.

The first phase of the tour, which took place from July 22 to August 17, 2024, involved visits to 125 constituencies across 22 regions under the initiative #Miezi10 #WanachamaMilioni10. The second phase aims to build on this momentum with a new series of strategic visits.

In a statement issued by the party, the objectives of the second phase tour includes strengthening party presence on both Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar.

“Following a directive from the Central Committee, senior party leaders are tasked with visiting each of the 214 constituencies on the Mainland before the Local Government Elections. This phase will complete that directive,” reads the statement.

The tour will also look into candidate placement ensuring that every hamlet, village, and street has an ACT Wazalendo candidate for the elections.

“The Central Committee has mandated that candidates be fielded in every electoral zone, and this tour will verify that no area lacks representation,” reads the statement.

The party aims at registering 10 million members over a 10-month period, a campaign officially launched on July 22, 2024. By April 2025, ACT Wazalendo aims to be the party with the highest membership count in Tanzania.

The tour will also focus on engaging with citizens, addressing their challenges, and offering solutions, reflecting ACT Wazalendo’s commitment to "Nation for All, Interests for All."
