Unguja. The opposition party ACT Wazalendo in Zanzibar on Friday September 6, unveiled a shadow cabinet mirroring what they have been doing on Mainland.
The announcement, made by the party's Chairman, Othman Masoud Othman, introduced a team of sectoral spokespersons tasked with holding the government accountable in the absence of an active parliament.
This newly unveiled shadow cabinet represents a strategic move by ACT Wazalendo to ensure effective governance and accountability in all sectors, even in the absence of an active parliament.
According to the party’s chairman, each member brings a wealth of experience and expertise, positioning the party as a formidable force.
Some of the sectoral spokesperson who were in attendence during the unveiling of the shadow cabinet
Leading the team is Hamad Mussa Yussuf, who assumes the role of Spokesperson for the Office of the Chairman, supported by Deputy Spokesperson Mohamed Bussara. Seif Hamad Suleiman will serve as the Council Secretary, ensuring smooth operations within the party’s central office.
In the realm of Finance, Economy, and Development Vision, Prof Omar Fakih Hamad will spearhead the sector as Spokesperson, with Miza Bakari Haji as his deputy. This duo is set to focus on economic strategies and developmental goals crucial for national progress.
The Public Service and Ethical Leadership sector will be under the guidance of Spokesperson Hassan Jani Masoud and Deputy Spokesperson Halima Abbas. They will oversee issues related to public administration and ethical governance, ensuring integrity and efficiency in public services.
Jabir Idrisa will lead the regional administration, local government, and urban planning sector as Spokesperson, supported by Nahoda Khamis. Their role will be pivotal in addressing regional governance and urban development challenges.
Trade, Investment, and Economic Empowerment docket will be represented by Spokesperson Mahmoud Shineni and Deputy Spokesperson Salma Mbarouk Abdalla. Their focus will be on fostering trade relations and driving economic opportunities.
Justice and Constitutional Affairs will be managed by spokesperson Khalfan Amour Mohamed, with Biole Mohamed Omar as his deputy. They will oversee matters of legal reform and constitutional issues.
Agriculture, livestock development, and fisheries will be championed by Abdilahi Jihad Hassan, with Makiye Juma Ali as the deputy spokesperson. Their mission will be to promote sustainable practices in agriculture and fisheries.

Information, culture, arts, and sports will be represented by Spokesperson Ally Saleh, with Humoud Ahmed Said as his deputy. They will work on promoting and managing the nation’s cultural and sporting activities.
