Arusha. Arusha District Commissioner Joseph Mkude has commended Tanzania Breweries Plc (TBL) for its dedication to water conservation, emphasising the vital role of water in economic growth and community well-being.
On March 19, 2025, at a special event hosted by TBL’s Arusha brewery to mark World Water Day, Mr Mkude applauded the company’s innovative water management strategies, which benefit both the brewing industry and local communities.
"Water is a fundamental resource that drives economic progress and supports livelihoods. I commend Tanzania Breweries Plc for its commitment to water conservation and investment in sustainable solutions that benefit both the industry and the communities it serves," he said.
The event brought together government officials, industry experts, and environmental organisations to discuss sustainable water management and explore technological innovations that enhance water efficiency in industrial operations.
TBL showcased its water-saving initiatives, highlighting significant progress in reducing water consumption across its breweries.

TBL’s Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, Ms Neema Temba, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable practices.
"We are dedicated not only to efficient brewing but also to supporting broader water conservation efforts that benefit Tanzanians," she said.
TBL’s conservation initiatives extend beyond its operations to community projects.
The company has developed a water borehole in Minazi Mikinda, providing residents with access to clean water.
Additionally, its partnerships with organisations such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and local government bodies reinforce its dedication to protecting vital water sources.
TBL’s Procurement Director, Mr Dickson Rushekya, highlighted the company’s achievement in reducing water usage in its breweries by approximately 30 percent over the past five years.
He attributed this success to innovative technologies, water recycling, and process optimisation.
"We have made significant strides in improving water efficiency, but our efforts extend beyond the brewery. Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and through initiatives like water banks, we are helping communities secure reliable water sources powered by renewable energy," he said.
As part of AB InBev’s 2025 Sustainability Goals, TBL continues to prioritise water security, ensuring the production of high-quality beverages while upholding responsible resource management for the future.
