Former Tanzanian president Ali Hassan Mwinyi laid to rest in Zanzibar

Unguja. The body of Tanzania’s second-phase President Ali Hassan Mwinyi has been laid to rest in his home village of Mangapwani in Zanzibar on Saturday.

He was buried next to his son, Ali Mwinyi, who died in August 2022. The burial followed both Islamic and government protocols.

The ceremony was attended by various top government officials, led by Vice President Dr. Phillip Mpango and Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi, who is also the son of the late Mzee Mwinyi.
