Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, the eminent quaternary care specialty hospital, will ensure a seamless and locally accessible healthcare experience, according to a statement from the hospital.
Minister for Health and Social Welfare Ummy Mwalimu will grace the inauguration event, according to the statement.
Mumbai healthcare services director and associate of the coordination centre, Mr David Dickson, said that the centre will simplify the process for patients in Tanzania, ensuring that they receive necessary guidance and support throughout their healthcare journey.
The initiative will also lay the foundation for sharing medical knowledge, he said.
The CEO and executive director of Kokilaben Hospital, Dr Santosh Shetty, will also be present on the occasion, along with specialty doctors who will speak on advances in treatment protocols.
“In line with the vision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to provide accessible and high-quality healthcare services within the country, the collaborative initiative is poised to revolutionise healthcare in Tanzania and the East African region,” said Dr Shetty.
“It will put us on the cusp of establishing a centre where Tanzanian doctors and nurses will embrace medical education on cutting-edge technology and international standards to meet the healthcare needs of the community,” said Dr Shetty. “Thus, the initiative will eliminate the necessity for costly overseas treatments and reduce the financial burden on the government, making it a transformative healthcare vision for the benefit of all Tanzanians,” added Dr Shetty.
The upcoming Hospital Coordination Centre, located in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam, will offer assistance and information, acting as a supportive bridge connecting patients with relevant medical services and specialties in India. The centre will serve as a hub for facilitating doctor training, exchange programmes, and knowledge sharing between Tanzanian and Indian medical professionals.
Experienced teams from Kokilaben Hospital will be readily available to mentor and assist Tanzanian medical practitioners, fostering a collaborative environment for mutual learning and advancement in healthcare, thereby providing an impetus to increased access to high-quality healthcare services.
The Centre will also promote the sharing of medical knowledge and expertise not only among the local medical fraternity in Tanzania but also in surrounding regions by facilitating continuous medical education, encouraging the exchange of medical knowledge, and exploring the possibility of setting up a world-class healthcare facility in Tanzania.
The owner of Mumbai Healthcare Services, Mr David Dickson, also proposes to build a cancer centre in Dar es Salaam in association with Kokilaben Hospital’s medical expertise and guidance.
The Hospital Coordination Centre will mark the beginning of a new chapter in healthcare facilitation and collaboration.
