Infobip sets new record with 11.6 billion Cyber Week interactions

Dar es Salaam. Global communications platform Infobip has announced a remarkable surge in communications interactions during Cyber Week, emphasizing the growing adoption of Rich Communication Services (RCS) and seamless conversational experiences. The platform recorded a staggering 11.6 billion interactions between Friday, 29 November, and Monday, 2 December, marking a 41% increase from the 8.2 billion recorded during the same period in 2023.

The data underscores a significant shift towards conversational experiences, allowing customers to complete entire shopping journeys — from browsing to purchasing — within a single channel. SMS, email, and WhatsApp collectively accounted for 5.5 billion interactions this year, with email alone witnessing a 94% year-on-year increase. Infobip’s analysis also highlighted the substantial rise in RCS interactions, which grew by an impressive 349%, affirming its critical role in global retail communications.

A noteworthy trend emerged over the weekend of Cyber Week, with 5.1 billion interactions recorded on Saturday, 30 November, and Sunday, 1 December. This represents a significant jump from 3 billion interactions during the same weekend in 2023. The data reflects an expanded effort by businesses to engage consumers beyond the traditional Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, catering to a broader audience of cost-conscious shoppers.

Ivan Ostojić, Chief Business Officer at Infobip, remarked, “Our data confirms that RCS has become an essential channel for businesses this year as they strive to offer rich, personalized, and conversational customer experiences. Consumers are increasingly interested in shopping throughout November, not just during Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The 70% increase in interactions over the Cyber Week weekend underscores this trend. Infobip’s robust platform enabled businesses to deliver smooth and efficient customer journeys, ensuring successful transactions across all channels.”

With the continued rise of RCS and conversational commerce, Infobip’s data reinforces the growing importance of versatile communication channels in today’s dynamic retail landscape.
