Irish envoy thrilled by Kioo Limited's modern glass production

Dar es Salaam. The Irish Ambassador to Tanzania, Ms Nicola Brennan, has praised the modern technology used in glass container manufacturing by Tanzanian giant Kioo Limited.
The envoy expressed her excitement on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, during her visit to the factory in Chang’ombe, Dar es Salaam.
Most notably, Ms Brennan expressed enthusiasm for the company’s use of locally sourced materials, with 99 percent of its raw materials coming from Tanzania.
“I’m very impressed by the use of cutting-edge technology in bottle production. I congratulate Kioo Limited for relying so heavily on Tanzanian raw materials; this is a significant and positive step,” she said.
Ms Brennan also commended the factory’s environmentally friendly technology and urged management to continue prioritising environmental care.
She further expressed her appreciation for the company’s short- and long-term expansion plans, which aim to increase production and broaden its global market reach.
The envoy praised the Tanzanian government for creating a favourable business climate, noting that the number of investors in the country continues to rise, thanks to the Sixth Phase Government’s supportive policies.
In November last year, Kioo Limited won the Mineral Sector category at the President's Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), which recognises companies using local raw materials.
The awards, presented by Vice President Dr Philip Mpango, were organised by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) and recognised excellence in the industrial sector.
