Kilombero Sugar hosts stakeholder engagement summit to foster collaboration

Morogoro. Kilombero Sugar Company convened a Local Stakeholder Engagement Summit on Thursday, bringing together newly elected local government leaders and key stakeholders from the Kilombero Valley to enhance cooperation and communication for sustainable business growth.
The summit, held at the company’s headquarters, aimed at strengthening partnerships with local leaders, providing updates on the ongoing K4 Expansion Project, and establishing a stakeholder database to facilitate better engagement. The event underscored Kilombero Sugar’s commitment to transparency and collaboration in its operations.
The Kilombero District Commissioner, Dunstan Kyobya, who represented the Regional Commissioner for Morogoro, commended the company for fostering open dialogue with stakeholders. “Kilombero Sugar’s dedication to transparency is commendable. Maintaining open communication ensures that all stakeholders are well-informed about the company’s operations and future plans,” he said.

Mr Kyobya also urged AMCOS members and village leaders to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts by planting 5,000 trees, an initiative supported by the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), Reforest Africa, and the Tanzania Forest Services (TFS).
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation and Mikumi MP, Denis Londo, stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership between Kilombero Sugar and the local community. “This cooperation is key to addressing community needs and ensuring mutual growth,” he noted.
Kilombero Sugar’s Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. Derick Stanley, emphasized that sustainable partnerships require continuous dialogue. “This summit provides an opportunity for us to align with local leaders on key business developments. By working together, we can drive sustainable economic growth,” he said.
Victor Byemelwa, the company’s Communications and Stakeholder Relations Manager, outlined key focuses of the summit, including onboarding new local leaders, updating stakeholders on the K4 Expansion Project, and developing a structured database to streamline engagement.
The summit reaffirmed Kilombero Sugar’s commitment to fostering sustainable business practices and strengthening relationships with local communities for long-term success.
