What you need to know:

  • In a new announcement made on September 25,  by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the former Muti-Choice Tanzania chief is now the new Post Master, replacing Macrice Daniel Mbodo, who is set to be deployed elsewhere.

Dar es Salaam. Hardly had he gotten acquainted with his new surroundings at Tanzania Telecommunications Ltd (TTCL), where he was posted on Friday, former Tanseco Managing Director Maharage Chande has been reposted.

In a new announcement made on Monday, September 25, by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the former Muti-Choice Tanzania chief is now the new Post Master General, replacing Macrice Daniel Mbodo, who is set to be deployed elsewhere.

Peter Ulanga, whose position had been taken over by Chande in the Friday night changes, will now continue as the boss at TTCL in the latest changes.

In a raft of changes, Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (PSPF) boss John Ulanga has been appointed ambassador and is set to be sworn in on Tuesday, September 26, at State House Dar es Salaam.

Earlier on today

In Friday’s changes, Major General Paul Kisesa Simuli became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tanesco, with the former board chair, Mr. Omar Issa, heading to the Office of the President, Planning Commission.

On the other hand, Engineer Gissima Nyamo-Hanga, who was formerly the Executive Director of the Rural Energy Agency (REA), replaced Mr. Chande as the new Tanesco supremo.

And just like in 2021, when Mr. Chande was appointed, the changes come a few weeks after a new energy minister, Dotto Biteko, took charge of the power utility company.

Maharage’s removal from the troubled electricity parastatal comes at a time when the country is facing frequent power cuts, and the utility company has yet to explain whether the country is under load shading.
