Kibaha. Muslims in the Coast Region have been urged to contest various leadership positions in the upcoming general election, set to take place at the end of this year.

Speaking on Monday, 31st March 2025, shortly after the Idd-ul-Fitr prayer, the Chief Imam of Muuminina Mosque in Kibaha Mailimoja, Coast Region, Yusuph Masood said when God-fearing leaders are entrusted with power, they govern with justice.
“Therefore, it is important for believers to come forward and seek leadership positions in the forthcoming election,” he said.
He added that Tanzanians face various challenges, including deteriorating road infrastructure, which can only be properly addressed by government leaders with high moral standards.
Additionally, the religious leader urged Muslims to uphold the good deeds they had practised during Ramadan throughout their lives, emphasising that this would help maintain peace in the country.
“Our country needs peace, and for peace to prevail, citizens must engage in good deeds. It is important for believers of this religion, as well as those of other faiths, to uphold kindness and love for one another,” he said.
