Mwalimu, Lugola set to attend burial of Mara road accident casualties

- Health minister Ummy Mwalimu and his Home Affairs counterpart Kangi Lugola are expected to join residents of Tarime and Rorya districts to bury people who died during an accident involving two passenger vehicles.
Tarime. Two ministers are expected to attend the burial of 15 out of 16 casualties of two commuter vehicles, which collided in Komaswa Village in Tarime District.
The top government officials include the minister of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Ms Ummy Mwalimu and Home Affairs minister Kangi Lugola.
The passenger vehicles plying the Musoma-Tarime and Tarime-Busurwa routes in Rorya District were involved in head-on collision on Monday, November 26 and caught fire.
Mara regional commissioner Adam Malima said preparations, including graves and coffins for burial, have been completed.
Others who are expected to attend the event include district commissioners from almost all Mara districts as well as religious and political leaders.
In the accident, 15 people died on the spot, leaving four survivors one of whom died en route to the hospital.
Reports from the region say 14 casualties will be buried in graves located in one area. The other two bodies were collected by relatives for burial after identification.
Tarime district commissioner Glorious Luoga said other preparations included taking samples from remains of the casualties for DNA tests to simplify the identification process.
He said graves will be numbered in correspondence with numbers assigned to respective samples and that relatives will be handed graves after test results.
According to him, since the dead people belonged to various religions, the graves will not bear symbols associated with religions.
“Only special boards bearing important information will be inserted in each grave. The information will include numbers that will simplify identification after DNA results are out,” he elaborated.
