Nape calls for revival of NHC’s stalled projects

Dar es Salaam. The chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism Mr Nape Nnauye on Friday, advised the government to approve the implementation of projects that have stalled at the National Housing Corporation (NHC) and called for the creation of a national housing policy.
Mr Nnauye gave the advice when his committee teamed up at NHC in Dar es Salaam to evaluate the corporation’s projects. He said, however, NHC had been performing well.
“There are projects that have stalled due to budget constraints, and there is a need to have a housing policy to guide this sector, as it very crucial in our country,” he added.
"There have been news that the corporation is making big losses, but when we met on Saturday and reviewed their statements, we discovered a different story. It’s actually one of the well performing government's corporations,” he said.
Mr Nnauye also requested that the conflicts that have dogged NHC should be put to an end by the government and build up a stable management tool. Also, prices of construction equipment’s should be reduced to lower the housing cost.
"These conflicts have resulted to mishaps in the management and the resigning of leaders,’’ he noted.
