Dar es Salaam. Nicole Mbowe, daughter of Chadema Chairman Freeman Mbowe, was arrested today in the Magomeni area of Dar es Salaam shortly after her father was detained.

Her arrest follows the earlier detention of her father in the same location.

Mr Mbowe was taken into custody while addressing journalists, amid plans for protests he announced on September 11, 2024, to condemn recent kidnappings and murders, including that of party member Ali Kibao.

Also, Mbowe called for accountability, urging the resignation of the Minister of Home Affairs, Hamad Masauni, and senior security officials.

Despite these plans, the police, through spokesperson David Misime, declared the protests illegal.
