One dead, 30 injured in a stampede at CAF cup final in Dar

Dar es Salaam. One person was killed, and 30 others were injured after soccer fans pushed through one of the access gates at the CAF Confederation Cup at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

This was during a CAF Confederation Cup final match between Yanga and USM Algier.

The Minister of Health, Ms Ummy Mwalimu, confirmed that  a preliminary report that the dead person  is estimated to be 40 years old.

"The team of experts in the Emergency Services of Muhimbili National Hospital has already contacted the Temeke Regional Referral Hospital, and they are ready to receive and attend to the injured who will need more treatment," Minister Ummy wrote on her Twitter account.
