The Police Force has arrested and interrogated two suspects, aged 16 and 12, on allegations of breaking two windows of a Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train using stones in Manase Village, Chamwino District, Dodoma.
According to the Police report, the two minors, both residents of Manase Village, committed the act while the train was passing through the area en route from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.
The Police stated that the motive behind the suspects' actions was to test the speed of the stones against the speed of the train, to see if the stones could match its velocity.
The Police have urged the public, particularly those living near railway lines, to continue raising awareness about the importance of safeguarding railway infrastructure, which benefits all Tanzanians.
"Every parent or guardian has a responsibility to educate their families, especially children, on refraining from actions that may damage the modern railway and trains, as such actions could lead to legal consequences," the Police statement emphasised.
