Police launch manhunt after Boda-Boda driver found killed in Mtwara

Mtwara. A harrowing incident has rocked the rural district of Nanyumbu, Mtwara, as authorities launched manhunt following the brutal murder of a 30-year-old boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) driver.

Azizi Alumen Njombi, a resident of Mangaka village, was reported missing after he failed to return home on the night of September 19, 2024.

According to the Mtwara Regional Police Commander, Mr Issa Suleiman, the deceased was last seen around 9 PM, operating his motorcycle in Jangwani village.

He had been hired by unidentified individuals, in what now appears to have been a premeditated attack.

“His body was found in a remote and uninhabited forest area, with injuries,” Mr Suleiman said in a statement.

Njombi’s body was discovered in the early hours of September 20, 2024, he said, adding that the motorcycle was nowhere to be found.
