Rita has opened applications for certificate verification for applicants of the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB) for the academic year 2019/20
Dar es Salaam. The Registration, Insolvency and Trusteeship Agency (Rita) has opened applications for certificate verification for applicants of the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (Heslb) for the academic year 2019/20.
Rita chief executive officer Emmy Hudson said the verification will be done online through a special portal listed on the Rita website.
"Last year, we experienced some challenges because some students did not verify their details on time, something which caused them to miss loans,” she said.
Ms Hudson added: “To avoid a repetition of last year’s mishaps, we have decided to start the verification process as early as possible to ensure that all students verify on time."
The verification process can be done at District Commissioners (DCs) offices across the country and at Rita main offices in Dar es Salaam.
"The documents needed are birth certificates and death certificates of parents or guardians of the students," she added.
The Rita boss noted that the applicants will be charged Sh3,000 only per certificate.
Ms Hudson said: "We have heard cases of people being charged up to Sh100,000 for this process, but it is a bit cheap now for they will be charged Sh3,000 only per certificate."
