Dodoma. Yapi Merkezi that has built a section of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line has reinvested 70 percent of the project proceeds into Tanzania, the company has said.

Last Thursday President Samia Suluhu Hassan officially launched electric-powered train services on the SGR between Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.

The Yapi Merkezi Vice President, Dr Erdem Arioglu, said in a statement yesterday that the company had reinvested the money as part of its commitment to Tanzania.

“More than 70 percent of the project’s funds have been reinvested into the Tanzanian economy through local suppliers, subcontractors, and employees, reflecting Yapi Merkezi’s commitment to the country’s growth,” the statement, which was availed to the media in Dar es Salaam yesterday, read in part.

“We are immensely proud to have contributed to this landmark project.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to President Samia and TRC for their trust and support.

“This successful collaboration exemplifies the power of partnership and shared vision.

“We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of this railway on Tanzania’s future,” Arioglu said.

Yapi Merkezi’s dedication has set a new benchmark in railway construction and engineering.

Their meticulous planning, innovative techniques, and focus on sustainability have resulted in a world-class railway system.

The SGR project demonstrates the successful collaboration between Tanzania and Yapi Merkezi, highlighting the power of partnership in achieving monumental goals.

“As we celebrate this significant achievement, we anticipate the continued impact of the SGR railway on Tanzania’s development.

“This project is a cornerstone of our nation’s infrastructure and heralds a future of enhanced connectivity, economic growth and regional integration,” Arioglu added.

Speaking last week, President Hassan praised Yapi Merkezi for its exceptional contribution to Tanzania’s development.

President Hassan said the landmark achievement led by Yapi Merkezi would help heighten transport and stimulate development.

“This project is a testament to Yapi Merkezi’s remarkable capabilities and professionalism.

“Their dedicated efforts and adherence to high standards have paved the way for a brighter future for our nation.

“The SGR railway will play a pivotal role in our journey towards economic prosperity and regional integration,” she said.
