Sh5bn set aside for construction of new ultra-modern TBC Dodoma studios

Dodoma. The government has set aside Sh5 billion to be spent on the construction of modern studios for the state-owned Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) in Dodoma.
This was said on Thursday, September 13 in Parliament by the deputy minister in the Prime minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, Labour, Youth and People with Disabilities), Mr Anthony Mavunde on behalf of the minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Dr Harrison Mwakyembe.
Mr Mavunde was responding a question by Special Seats MP Anna Lupembe (CCM) who sought to know when frequencies of Radio Tanzania (TBC Taifa) would reach Ilela and Ilunde wards in Mlele District, Katavi Region.
Responding, Mr Mavunde said the government was expanding the outreach of TBC services and in the 2016/17 budget a total of Sh1 billion was allocated to improve the outreach in five districts.
“The government is determined to install radio station towers in Songwe, Katavi, Njombe and Simiyu regions in the 2019/20 budget, and in the current (2018/19) budget the government has set aside Sh5 billion for constructing TBC studio in Dodoma which is capital city,” he said.
The deputy minister added that TBC was already available in areas where the towers were installed recently such as Rombo, Nyasa (Mbambabay), Tarime, Kibondo/Kakonko districts and Namanga.
