Shinyanga. Police in Shinyanga are holding a 37-year-old woman, Pendo Samson Methusela, on suspicion of killing her lover, Timithoy Magesa (35), after attacking him with a razor blade.
Regional Police Commander Janeth Magomi confirmed the incident yesterday, saying it occurred on the night of August 23, 2025, at Bwashee Guest House in Ndala Ward, Shinyanga Municipality.
She explained that before the incident, Pendo received a call from another woman using the deceased’s phone, warning her to end the relationship. Shortly afterwards, Timothy contacted Pendo and asked to meet at the guest house to discuss the matter.
“When they met, a quarrel broke out over the woman who had made the call. During the confrontation, Pendo allegedly used a razor blade to cut Timothy on his left arm and abdomen, causing severe bleeding,” Commander Magomi said.
The victim was rushed to Shinyanga Municipal Hospital but died while receiving treatment. Commander Magomi described the killing as a crime of passion, adding that once legal procedures are completed, the suspect will be arraigned in court.
A resident of the area, Maria John, said she saw a crowd gathered after church and later learnt someone had been fatally injured.
“I saw many people assembled, and when I asked, I was told someone had been slashed, though I did not know who it was,” she said.
Commander Magomi has urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and instead seek peaceful solutions to relationship disputes.
