Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has announced a sponsorship of Sh40.5 million for the Ndondo Cup 2024 in collaboration with Shadaka Sports Management.

This significant contribution underscores TRA’s commitment to fostering community engagement through sports while promoting crucial tax education initiatives.

The sponsorship, which is being managed through Shadaka Sports Management, will support the ongoing Ndondo Cup, one of the country’s most popular football tournaments.

As part of this partnership, TRA will leverage the platform to mobilize and educate the public about its Electronic Tax Stamps (ETS) and the ‘Hakiki Stempu’ campaign.

The key message of this initiative is to highlight the importance of scanning products before use to ensure they are safe, genuine, and compliant with tax regulations.

TRA’s Director of Taxpayer Education and Communication , Mr Richard Kayombo, said this partnership is a unique opportunity for authority to engage with the public in a meaningful way.

“Through sports, we can reach a wider audience to educate and convince them to appreciate the latest technology solution of electronic tax stamps in ensuring the authenticity of products.

Moreover, we believe that through this initiative, we can make a significant impact on consumer behavior and contribute to the broader goal of enhancing tax compliance across the country,” he said.

TRA calls on users of products with Electronic Tax Stamps (ETS) to download the Stamp Verification app and scan those products before use. This is one way to protect their health and ensure the government receives the correct tax revenue.

Managing Director of Shadaka Sports Management, Shaffih Dauda,  expressed gratitude for TRA’s support, emphasizing the importance of corporate partnerships in enhancing the value of local sports events.

“This sponsorship not only supports the development of grassroots football but also serves a greater purpose by educating the public on crucial tax issues, after all, our sports grounds are often flooded with various products, hence we look forward to this partnership to ensure this technology helps us to stay safe from fake products on the grounds,” he said.

The Ndondo Cup has long been celebrated for its role in nurturing local football talent and bringing communities together. With the support of TRA, this year’s tournament is set to not only entertain but also educate the public on important tax-related issues, reinforcing the value of compliance and the benefits of the Electronic Tax Stamps system and Hakiki Stempu.
