Dodoma. The University of Dodoma (Udom) will soon open its radio station airing educative programmes on various social-economic aspects.

According to the varsity’s Vice Chancellor Prof Idriss Kikula, the station to be christened Udom Radio will also run programmes on language orientations.

“Contrary to many other radio stations in the country our major concern will base on giving citizens at the central zone corridor an ample and free time to learn about different matters regarding their daily living ranging from health, economic, culture and many more,” he revealed.

The Don added that the radio will use well-trained and most experienced journalists in order to achieve the desired end results of imparting sound knowledge to listeners.

He however revealed that the station will later on be followed by the establishment of the Journalism Faculty in the fast growing varsity.

“You know the performance of journalism field in the country is still poor, so we want to create suitable learning environment that will later on play a pivotal role at shaping the industry,” he said.

Prof Kikula said most local media have failed to offer to their audiences the most needed content on various important issues.
