Dar es Salaam. The Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works, Dr Charles Msonde, emphasised that the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and innovation is in the hands of the youth.

He urged young people to harness their creativity as a catalyst for national development.

His remarks were made during the closing of the Youth Engineering Forum (YEF) 2025, which was themed “Engineering the Future: Youth-Driven Innovative Solutions Towards National Transformation.”

Dr Msonde reminded attendees that Tanzania's large youth population is a significant asset, particularly in the field of innovation.

“Tanzania has a substantial number of young people, and innovation heavily relies on you,” he said. “When you face setbacks or challenges in your projects, do not give up. Success often comes with trials and challenges. If you fail once, stand up, try again, and keep pushing forward; your efforts are vital for our country's progress.”

He emphasised that innovation requires courage and perseverance, encouraging participants not to wait for others to develop solutions. “Collaboration is also essential for advancing and scaling up innovations,” he added.

Chairman of the Engineering Registration Board (ERB), David Manga, expressed that the board will continue organising training programs to equip young people with the necessary skills for self-employment, entrepreneurship, and making meaningful contributions to society.

He described the forum as exceptional, noting that it had created opportunities not only for participants but also for the wider community and the nation as a whole.

“This platform has empowered us and elevated us to a new level,” he said.
