Dar es Salaam. Fountain Gate FC's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Thabita Kidawawa, has stated that the team's primary goal this season is to finish in the top four of the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

Thabita, who is the second woman to hold the CEO position in the league after Barbara Gonzalez, who led Simba, said the club has implemented significant strategies to achieve this goal for the current and upcoming seasons.

Currently, Fountain Gate FC are in fifth place with three points from two matches. Simba lead the league with six points from two games, while Singida Black Stars are in second with six points as well, and Mashujaa FC is third with four points.

Defending champions Yanga sit in fourth place with three points from one match.

Thabita explained that the 4-0 defeat to Simba in their opening match of the league was due to unforeseen challenges, but they managed to correct all mistakes and secured a 2-0 victory against Namungo FC in their second match.

She said that they met with the team's head coach, Mohamed Muya, and his assistants, which led to the improved performance against Namungo FC in the away encounter.

"The management, in collaboration with the coaches and players, has set robust strategies for this season.

We are aware that the league is tough, and other teams have also prepared well, but our plans are different from our competitors, and we believe they will help us achieve our goal," said Thabita.

After their win against Namungo FC, Fountain Gate FC is now focusing all their efforts on September 11, 2024's   match against newly promoted KenGold FC, scheduled to take place at Tanzanite Stadium in Manyara.

The match will be the first Tanzania Mainland Premier League game ever played in Manyara, marking a historic moment for the local community.

Thabita expressed satisfaction with the warm reception from Manyara residents and promised not to disappoint them in this match.

"We are well-prepared against KenGold FC, and our goal is to continue our winning streak. We are grateful to our sponsors for their continued support," she added.

Fountain Gate FC's head coach, Mohamed Muya, mentioned that they have corrected all the mistakes from their first two matches and are aiming for even better results.

Muya acknowledged that they expect tough opposition from KenGold but have developed a solid plan to ensure a good performance.

Apart from the match, which is set to kick off at 4:15pm, another Tanzania Mainland Premier League match to be held tomorrow will be between Tabora United and Kagera Sugar at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora, starting at 2pm.
