Simba start CAF Cup preps

What you need to know:

  • The match is scheduled to take place on September 14 at the Tripoli International Stadium

Dar es Salaam. Simba Sports Club head coach, Fadlu Davids, has started preparations for the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup match against Al Ahly Tripoli of Libya.

The match is scheduled to take place on September 14 at the Tripoli International Stadium, starting at 6 p.m. East Africa Time, and will be Fadlu's first international match with Simba since joining the club.

The return leg will be held at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, also starting at 6 p.m. East Africa Time.

Speaking with The Citizen yesterday, Simba's Information Officer, Ahmed Ally, said that Fadlu has initiated a special training program ahead of the encounter, aiming to achieve the best possible performance.

Ally mentioned that most of the players are in top shape, undergoing intensive training at their Bunju ground. He noted that although some players are missing the team training due to national team assignments, Fadlu will hold special sessions with them after their return.

The program will also involve five players currently away with their national teams for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches (AFCON 2025).

The players include Ally Salim, Mohammed "Tshabalala" Hussein, and Edwin Balua, who are with the Tanzania national football team, Taifa Stars; Moussa Camara, who features for the Guinea national team; and Steven Mukwala, who plays for Uganda's national team, The Cranes. "We have five players with national teams. They will join the team soon after their national assignments and will be brought up to speed with what other players have been training on while they were away," said Ally.
