The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) confimed yesterday that the two clubs can use the services of their new signings, clearing the controversy that had surrounded their registration.
The players include Issoufou “Diego” Boubacar who has signed a two-year contract with Yanga and Kenyan Raphael Kiongera who has signed for Simba.
Others who have been cleared to feature for the Premier League clubs are Ugandan Brian Majwega, Novatus Lufunga (African Sports) and Hija Ugando who is a free agent.
The fate of Mwadui FC striker Paul Nonga who joined Yanga recently is still not clear because his former club has not officially released him, according to the TFF competition director, Martin Chacha.
Chacha said that Yanga and Simba have to pay $2,000 (about Sh4 million) and $4,000 (approximately Sh8 million) respectively to secure international licences for their new signings- Kiongera and Majwega.
He said local players who have been registered by Premier League sides would be known after the TFF legal, ethics and players’ status committee meets.
He said that the meeting would take place on Sunday.
Meanwhile, TFF has said that the Mainland Premier League, National First Division and Second Division League clubs have been fielding in their respective matches players who followed proper procedures when joining new teams.
He said the clubs might incur the national football governing body’s wrath if they fielded players who have not been cleared by the federation.
He said those who have been cleared by TFF can feature for their new clubs in the league matches today.
