KVZ face Yanga in crucial Mapinduzi Cup encounter

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s football heavyweights, Young Africans (Yanga), today play against KVZ in the Mapinduzi Cup encounter at the New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar.
The group C game is programmed to kick off at 8.15pm and the two teams target victory in order to improve their chances in the group standings as well as qualify for the knockout stage.
Yanga are currently leading the group with six points from two matches, and victory will make them finish at the top.
KVZ are placed second with four points, and victory will make them top the group.
The Jangwani Street side head coach, Miguel Gamondi, said they focus on collecting three points to improve their position in the group table. He predicted the match to be tough and called upon his players to play with determination.
He said they are going to play against a tough team and will have to be well-focused throughout the game, expressing that KVZ are also targeting victory.
“It is going to be a tough match as both teams will be targeting a positive result. We have prepared well, and my players know what Yanga fans and members expect from them,” said Gamondi.

Besides that, another encounter set for today pits Mlandege and Chipukizi in group A.
The tie will start at 4.15pm and is decisive, as Chipukizi will be targeting victory to finish second and qualify for the knockout stage while Mlandege will also be targeting the same. Mlandege have so far collected two points, while Chipukizi have one point.
Already Azam FC have entered the knockout stage, having seven points from three matches.
