Nooij names Stars squad for friendly against The Flames

The national football team (Taifa Stars) head coach, Mart Nooij, has unveiled a 27-man squad that will take on Malawi in an international friendly match planned for March 29.

According to the Dutch tactician, Taifa Stars will converge in Dar es Salaam for training two days before flying to the Lake Zone city.
The players making up the squad with their local clubs in brackets are goal keepers: Deogratius Munishi (Yanga), Aishi Manula and Mwadini Ali (Azam FC).
Defenders: Shomari Kapombe, Erasto Nyoni, Aggrey Morris (Azam FC), Mwinyi Haji (KMKM), Salim Mbonde (Mtibwa Sugar), Kelvin Yondani, Nadir Haroub, Oscar Joshua (Yanga), Abdi Banda and Hassan Isihaka (Simba SC).
Midfielders: Frank Domayo, Salum Abubakar, Amri Kiemba, Mcha Khamis (Azam FC), Hassan Dilunga (Yanga), Said Ndemla (Simba), Haroun Chanongo (Stand United).

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) information officer Baraka Kizuguto said yesterday that Malawi popularly known as The Flames will jet into Mwanza two days before the match.
Kizuguto said the Malawi side will comprise nine players who ply their trade in South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and DR Congo.
The friendly will serve to give Stars a test as they prepare to feature in the Cosafa Cup set for South Africa’s North West province from May 1 to 31.
“We hope that Malawi will give us a perfect test of our strength ahead of the Cosafa Cup,” Kizuguto said.
The Nooij’s team will battle it out in the tournament as an invited team.
The latest Fifa rankings show a difference of nine positions between the two nations with Malawi heading into the match as better side. They are ranked on position 91.
