Amunike names squad for Uganda Cranes clash

DAR ES SALAAM. The national soccer team – Taifa Stars –head coach, Emmanuel Amunike, has unveiled a 25-member squad ahead of this month’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Uganda Cranes.

Stars must beat The Cranes in the match slated for March 24 at the National Stadium if they are to qualify for the finals to be held in Egypt from June 21 to July 19.

Players making up the squad are:

Goalkeepers: Aishi Manula, Metacha Mnata (Mbao FC), Aron Kalambo (Mbeya City), Suleiman Salula (Malindi).

Defenders: Hassan Kessy (Nkana FC, Zambia), Vincent Phillipo (Mbao FC), Gadiel Michael (Young Africans), Ally Mtoni (Lipuli FC), Aggrey Morris (Azam FC), Kennedy Wilson (Singida United), Andrew Vincent, Kelvin Yondani (Young Africans).

Midfielders: Feisal Salum (Young Africans), Jonas Mkude (Simba), Mudathir Yahya (Azam), Himid Mao (Petroject, Egypt), Yahya Zayd (Ismaily), Yahya Zayd (Ismail, Egypt).

Strikers: Shaaban Idd Chilunda, Farid Mussa (Tenerife, Spain),Shiza Kichuya (ENNPI, Egypt), John Bocco (Simba), Thomas Ulimwengu (JS Saoura, Algeria), Simon Msuva (Diffaa El Jadida), Rashid Mandawa (BDF, Botswana) and team captain Mbwana Samatta, who plays for KCR Genk of Belgium.
