Dar es Salaam. Defending champions Young Africans (Yanga) delivered a stunning performance as they thrashed Championship Division side Stand United 8-1 in a one-sided CRDB Federation Cup quarterfinal match held at the KMC Complex today, April 15, 2025.

Burkinabe attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki was the star of the show, scoring four goals and providing three assists to propel his team into the semifinals of the competition.

His outstanding display earned him the Man of the Match award and a cash prize of Sh500,000 from the tournament sponsors.

Aziz Ki opened the scoring in the 15th minute, calmly slotting the ball past Stand United goalkeeper John Mwenda following a fine pass from winger Maxi Nzengeli.

He was also involved in Yanga’s second goal, assisting Nickson Kibabage in the 20th minute to make it 2-0.

The attacking midfielder continued to orchestrate the game, providing another assist for Clatous Chama’s goal in the 32nd minute before Chama added his second in the 40th, again assisted by Aziz Ki.

Stand United managed to pull one back early in the second half through Msenda Senda, who scored in the 49th minute to make it 4-1. However, their joy was short-lived.

Aziz Ki quickly restored Yanga’s four-goal cushion with a powerful free-kick strike in the 51st minute, marking his second goal of the match.

He completed his hat trick in the 61st minute after connecting with a clever pass from Chama, and just two minutes later, he scored his fourth and final goal in the 63rd minute following a neat assist from Kennedy Musonda.

Yanga continued to dominate possession and create chances, with Musonda capping off the rout in the 87th minute.

The Zambian forward calmly converted after being set up by Farid Mussa to make it 8-1.

The emphatic victory secured Yanga a spot in the semifinals, where they will face a stern test against JKT Tanzania, who booked their place after a 3-1 win over Pamba Jiji FC.

The other semifinal clash will feature arch-rivals Simba SC taking on Singida Black Stars, with the eventual winner earning the opportunity to represent Tanzania in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Aziz Ki’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, demonstrating why he remains one of the most influential players in the Yanga squad.

His link-up play with Clatous Chama and Kennedy Musonda tormented the Stand United defense throughout the match, and his ability to both score and create chances gave Yanga a significant edge.

With the semifinals looming, Yanga will be hoping to maintain this high level of performance as they seek to defend their title and secure a place in continental competition once again.
